"Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God."

James 1:19-20

James, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, gives us a practical application of how we are to be the light of Christ in this world. When we think of how to be light and salt for the Lord in this world let us consider these verses.

The anger of man does not produce righteousness or turn away wrath. Impatience, anger, and an inability to be responsible provoke conflict. The servant of God who is quick to hear and demonstrates the fruit of the Holy Spirit produces the righteousness of God.

The encouragement to be slow to speak and slow to become angry infers that there will be moments when we will want to speak in hast out of anger. Anger comes from our hearts, and the Spirit of God must temper us. He must help us to be merciful and kind in trying circumstances and with difficult people.

May the Lord season our words with grace. Give us temperance and help us to be light in salt in this world today.

"But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me."

Micah 7:7

The confidence you have in waiting for God is that He is the Lord of salvation, and He hears you. Salvation belongs to the Lord. He has redeemed us and continues to keep us. Our cries do not fall on deaf ears but are received by the omniscient one.

You can wait confidently upon the Lord. Trust Him for help, provision, and guidance. As you commit yourself to the Lord, there is assurance of His abiding peace for the day. There is hope because of His providence and divine workings in your life.

There is no greater assurance for your life than trusting in God. The Lord knows the number of your days and what is within them. Mercy and goodness will follow you all the days of your life if Christ is your Shepherd. Look to the Lord.

"I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy."

Psalm 116:1

We were dead in sin, without hope, and estranged from God within this world. The Lord saved us by His grace alone. It was nothing of ourselves or anything we could offer. It was the simple cry for mercy in Christ that rescued us.

This mercy is made new each day for you, beloved. The humble cry for help will always reach the heart of God. He will never turn a deaf ear towards the pleas for mercy. If your heart is troubled today and the trials of life have weighed you down, look to the Lord. Lift your heart and cry to Him. God welcomes you to the throne of grace. He invites you to cast your cares upon Him.

The Lord is with you and will not turn you away. Trust the Lord for He is working all things for the good of your salvation.
