Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,...He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven."

Psalm 107:28, 29-30

Every child of God has longed for quiet waters and the storms of life to become still. There is something within the heart of man that longs for tranquility. Peace becomes especially longed for when troubled times come. Let us be grateful that the Psalmist petitions the Lord to hush the turbulent waves. It encourages us to ask the same for ourselves from a merciful Father.

Beloved, take this psalm as an example for your prayer life. May it be something you gain comfort from and encouragement to seek the Lord when you are in distress. Though the waves are troubled now, God can quiet them as He leads you to the desired haven of peace.

The Lord is the God of peace and comfort. He will comfort you and give you peace. Look to Him today the Lord is with you.

"Though you do not now see Him, you believe in Him..."

1 Peter 1:8

Peter was exhorting the early Christians for their faith in Christ, though they did not have the privilege to witness Jesus in His earthly ministry. They did not see the miracles firsthand or hear the sermon on the mount. These Christians came to faith by the preaching of God's word.

There are times when Christians go through diverse trials. Times in which our eyes of faith still do not see Christ. We cannot make sense of our circumstances and are unsure of what God is doing. We may say to ourselves and others, " I do not see God in this."

However, even in such times, we find faith in our hearts. Such faith does not come from ourselves but by the grace of God. The Spirit of the Lord carries us and enables us to keep trusting in the Lord. Though we do not see Him now, we know that a day is coming when we will. The circumstances will change, and things will become clear.

We long for the day when our eyes of faith behold Him, but there is a day coming when our physical eyes shall see Him finally. A day when faith is not needed and when Christ makes all things new. When all of God's people will dwell with Him forever. What a glorious day that will be. Though we do not see Him now, we believe, waiting for the day our eyes shall behold Him.

"You are my refuge in the day of disaster."

Jeremiah 17:17

Days of disaster come like a torrent. Like an unwanted guest who gives no warning of their arrival. Obnoxious, loud, and intrusive. No manners or regard for the peace and well-being of others.

Days of disaster come with gloom and despair. It causes doubt, sorrow, perplexity, and sometimes brings pain. We try to avoid such days. But no amount of preparation or wisdom can abolish such circumstances from one's life.

Our hope and plea in light of such days is to make the Lord our refuge. Look to Him as the one who knows our troubles and will guide us through. Everything has to pass through the providence of God, even days of disaster. We may question why they have come and why the Lord did not intervene sooner. But we must believe that He is working all things out for the good of our salvation in this life.

God is a refuge in the time of storm. He will sustain you and help you. Seek the Lord today as your refuge.
