"On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God."

Psalm 62:7

There is no greater one than God to rest our souls upon. God alone is immutable, all other things and people change. He alone is eternal and unchanging. Therefore, we have assurance when we put our hope in the Lord. God is omnipotent and will never grow weary. He is a mighty rock and the hope of our salvation.

If you are overwhelmed today, put your trust in the Lord. He knows all things and is watching over you. You do not have to fear the day or what tomorrow holds. God holds all things in His hands.

Make the Lord your refuge today. Come to Him with your concerns and ask the Lord to be your helper. He will keep you and give you peace. Trust the Lord with all your heart and rest in His lovingkindness.

"Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul."

Psalm 143:8

God's children down through the ages have offered this same prayer as the Psalmist. Hoping God would lead them in a specific direction or assist them in making a wise decision.

The Lord desires to lead us more than we ask Him to. God works providentially in our lives and has given us the word of God. Scripture instructs us in righteousness and godliness. Daily, enabling us to know the way we should go.

The Holy Spirit also empowers us to desire the will of God. The spirit of God empowers us to follow the Lord. We do not have to depend upon ourselves. God is at work in our lives. May we follow the Psalmist's example and seek the Lord daily in the way we should go. God is faithful in making His ways known and helping us to perform them. Be confident of this today, beloved.

"hide me in the shadow of your wings, "

Psalm 17:9

There is no other place we would rather be than in the shadow of God's protection. The Psalmist acknowledges his dread, the fear that brings despair, but he appeals to God's lovingkindness. Where shall we go when the storms of life come? How will you handle the circumstances that take your peace away?

We could try and build our shelter of protection. We could turn to others as fragile as ourselves or try to ignore what is upsetting. None of these options are sufficient. We can make things worse when we take it into our hands alone.

Today, may we cast our cares and ourselves upon the Lord. Ask the Lord to hide you beneath the shadow of His power, faithfulness, goodness, and love. There is no shame in coming to the Creator of heaven and earth. He knows our frame, what we can and cannot handle. God is with you, and though this verse is a prayer request. The reality is that we are hidden in Christ Jesus already. In Him, you are hidden in the shadow of the Almighty, and the Spirit of God lives in you.
