"Give us this day our daily bread."

Matthew 6:11

It is easy for us to be worried about the future. We make plans for the days ahead with mixed feelings of hope and anxiety. We wonder what the future holds while we pray for a hopeful outcome. These feelings and thoughts are a part of life because of our limited understanding of tomorrow.

Beloved, God understands that we are finite, so the Lord invites us to come before Him daily. Acknowledge the Lord for the future, but start by trusting Him daily. He has promised to meet us one day at a time.

Within each day, God makes provision for His people. God will faithfully supply our spiritual, emotional, and physical needs. Nothing is too hard for Him. Nothing is so small that God would not be moved in compassion, and nothing is so great that He does not have an answer.

The Lord is working everything for the good of our salvation. Therefore, ask Him today for your daily bread. He will be faithful to see His will fulfilled in your life.

"Cast your burden on the Lord,"

Psalm 55:22

The invitation has been given. Will we respond accordingly? We often carry a heavy burden that God has not intended for us to bear alone. His providence permits burdens beyond our strength and faith. But they are a means to bring us to the end of ourselves. The intent is for us to call out to the Lord and to depend upon Him.

Rather than struggling on our own or being discouraged by what has been allowed. Let us ask ourselves why God has led us in this direction. Why is this heavy burden a part of my life? It is surrendering to God in prayer and taking Him upon the invitation of casting our cares upon Him; that we find peace and grace that is sufficient.

Choose this day to cast your burden upon the Lord. Trust that He is willing and able to help. God's lovingkindness is extended to you. Why struggle on your own?

"Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye?"

Matthew 7:3

Have you ever asked someone if there was something in your eye? Your eye felt uncomfortable or in pain. It might have watered, or your vision blurred because the eye was irritated. Sometimes, it could be something as delicate as your eyelash or something more severe like metal shavings.

All of these things cause us to ask for help. The reality is we all have something in our eye. It could be a speck or a log. Human nature tends to notice the speck in another's eye without seeing the log in your own.

Specks and logs are like the stony places within the heart. We all need the foul ground of the heart to be broken up. Let us recognize our need for help to the point that we are uncomfortable with what is in our hearts as if our eyes were uncomfortable. We humble ourselves in seeking help when something is in our eye. Let us ask the Lord to help with what is in our hearts. God is willing and able.
