"Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; "
Revelation 22:1
The river of life source is the throne of grace. Eternal life flows from the throne of God and of the Lamb exclusively. No other river possesses eternal life. It is clear as crystal and cannot be polluted.
In the garden, there was a river that flowed through Eden. This one river was the source for four others, bringing life where they flowed. Through the fall, Adam and Eve are banished from the garden. They no longer have access to the Tree of Life. Who could restore that which was lost?
Christ came and restored all that was lost. He who was there in the beginning shall also make all things new. In the city of God flows the river of life, and the tree of life grows in abundance there. The names written in the Lamb's Book of Life shall dwell there. They shall eat of the tree and dwell with God and the Lamb for all eternity. Let us look forward in hope.
