"Now Joshua was standing before the angel, clothed with filthy garments. And the angel said to those who were standing before him, ' Remove the filthy garments from him."
Zechariah 3:3
There is no transformation greater than a life redeemed in Christ. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We stand in our filthy sin and self-righteousness. Hopeless to cleanse ourselves. We possess no cleaning agent capable of removing the stain of sin and its guilt.
It is the proclamation of Christ alone that removes the filthy garments. His atonement has washed our sins away. Jesus has clothed us in His holiness and righteousness and imputed what He accomplished for us to our account.
We stood before the God of heaven and earth in filthy garments. He sent His Son to die for us while we were dead in sin. In Christ, we have been reconciled unto God and clothed with the righteousness of Jesus. Humble yourself before the throne of grace and take comfort in the sureness of your salvation, sealed by the Holy Spirit.
