"You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."
Genesis 2:16 - 17
The command to not eat of the tree was a daily reminder to have faith in God and His word. That humanity can not live in autonomy from God. Though made in the image of God, we are not equal to God. There is only one creator of heaven and earth. All living things are dependent upon Him.
Today we are called to continue to follow the Lord in faithful obedience. We must put our faith in God and His word. Trusting His providence and following His commands. We are tempted to govern ourselves to distrust the goodness of God and His faithfulness.
As we look to Christ, we realize God has met our greatest need, and we must put our faith in Him alone. The Lord was not withholding what Adam and Eve needed. He was teaching them to depend upon Him. Continue to look to the Lord today. He is all you need and He will meet your needs.
In Christ Alone,
Pastor Wight
