"I know, O Lord, that your rules are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me."

Psalm 119:75

The faithfulness of God is something we all put our hope in. However, have you ever considered that God is faithful to afflict? Why would the Lord, unceasing in lovingkindness, bring affliction into our lives?

The Lord will use whatever means necessary to bring us closer to Himself and what is best for our salvation. Sometimes, it is an affliction that draws us to the Lord. In these moments, we cease looking at ourselves, others, and temporal things with the hope that the divine hand of the Lord will lift us.

In affliction, we must understand what we profess to believe and hold to. The fruit of the Holy Spirit, at times, can only be born through affliction. The light of Christ shines in the darkness of this world and through the turmoil. If we find ourselves in affliction today, may we put our trust in the lovingkindness of God. Know that He will work all things for the good of our salvation.

In Christ Alone,
