Mercy | Feb. 12th

"God, be merciful to me, a sinner! "

Luke 18:13

We come to the Lord with no righteousness of our own. There is nothing we could offer, no claim to make. We cannot boast in ourselves, for we are sinners. We cannot promise to do better, for we are sinners. Our only hope is in God showing mercy to us in Christ.

The Gospel gives us this hope. For while we were dead in sin, Christ died for us. Before God, we humble ourselves as sinners seeking His mercy. We cannot save ourselves or keep ourselves. Only a merciful God can.

Come to the Lord today, beloved. Seek God for His mercy and cast yourself before the throne of grace. Acknowledge that you are a sinner saved by grace and always dependent upon His mercy. God will keep you and will finish the work He started in you.

In Christ Alone,

Pastor Wight
