"All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned - everyone - to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all."
Isaiah 53:3
Beloved, have you ever experienced the burden of another person? Perhaps someone has poured their heart out and shared so much that it became overwhelming for you? In other words, whether it was healthy or not you felt the weight so that you became weary.
We cannot fully understand the magnitude of what this verse is saying to us with our finite minds. But God laid on Christ our iniquity. All of our sins were set upon Jesus when He was on the cross. Every sin that we have ever committed was put on Him in an instant. In that moment Jesus endured the wrath of God for our iniquity.
Christ made atonement for our sins. The price of redemption was paid in full and immediately. There is nothing more to be done. This is our hope for today. Our sins have been forgiven. Christ has redeemed us with His life and now we belong to God.
