Rest for the Weary | June 24th

"So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God."

Hebrews 4:9

Beloved, we live in a culture that is constantly seeking rest. Rest for the mind, spirit, and body. A whole industry is driven by this need and is very lucrative. Sadly, the rest offered is temporal or superficial.

How much thought have you given to the fact God created rest? It was the God of all creation who established the Sabbath. There are theological and practical implications to this that we should prayerfully consider.

If God is the author of rest, we should look to Him. Sadly, many do not keep the Sabbath, so there is no reminder or hope for the future rest we have with Christ in eternity. The Sabbath reminds us of our need and dependence upon the Lord. That we live for Him and long to be with God. Only there do we begin to find hope and comfort in this life and the one to come.

If you are tired of the old nature and life, seek the One who can give you eternal rest.

In Christ Alone,

Pastor Wight
