"Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him. Abd the Lord said to Satan, ' The Lord rebuke you, O Satan! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebukes you! Is not this a brand plucked from the fire?"
Zechariah 3:1-2
Satan is the father of all lies and the accuser of the brethren. The vision reveals Satan at the right hand of Joshua the High Priest, ready with accusations. The enemy of our soul loves to bring condemnation. The priestly order was impure, but the remedy of God was vastly different than the accuser.
Conviction comes from the Holy Spirit. He works repentance in our hearts towards redemption. The father of lies heaps condemnation and hopelessness while pushing an individual away from God.
Christ the Redeemer is our advocate. He rebukes the accuser on our behalf. We do not have to defend ourselves or contest with Satan. Jesus silences this foe, and the Spirit of God bears witness that we are God's children. A brand plucked from the fire. Rest in your secure position in Christ. Nothing can pluck out of His hands.
